This year, thousands of Canadian students will have access to essential literacy support through over $1 million in funding from our Literacy Fund Grant. Book access is a significant challenge for schools across Canada but particularly for rural and remote communities and with this investment the Foundation will reach 2,000+ students in communities who have identified significant gaps in of new, diverse and culturally relevant books and learning materials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$90,000 awarded to Matawa First Nations Management &#8211; Education department, Thunder Bay, ON<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$50,000 awarded to Tsuut\u2019ina Education Department, Tsuut\u2019ina\u202fFirst Nation, AB&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$100,000 awarded to Eenchokay Birchstick School, Pikangikum, ON &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$50,000 awarded to Kettle and Stony Point First Nation &#8211; Education Services, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, ON<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$10,000 awarded to Henry Coaster Memorial School, Ogoki, ON<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$10,000 awarded to Kapawe&#8217;no First Nation Collegiate, Grouard, AB&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator alignwide has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cLibraries play an important role in student engagement. \u201cNorthern and remote school boards are underfunded and short on space. Principals and school boards often have to make tough decisions between buying light bulbs for their gym or purchasing new books for their schools.
